Ingredients

1 c. Crisco
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. almond extract
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
2 c. crushed pecans
1 (16 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, cut in half and drained on paper towel
Preparation

Cream together the Crisco and cream cheese. Add sugar, egg and almond extract. Sift flour, salt and soda together. Add to mixture. Chill 1 hour. Roll into 1-inch balls.
Roll in crushed pecans.
Put cherry half in center of ball and press down lightly. Bake on top rack of oven at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
Cookie should be white or light color.
