Turtle Cake - cooking recipe

1 German chocolate cake mix (with pudding)
2 sticks butter
1 can Eagle Brand condensed milk
14 oz. pkg. Kraft caramels
1-1/2 c. chopped pecan pieces
Preparation

Mix cake according to package directions. Divide batter in half. To first half, add 1 stick melted butter and 1/2 can Eagle Brand milk. Bake in 13 x 9 inch pan at 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes. Melt the other stick of butter, add caramels and remaining Eagle Brand. When all melted and mixed well, stir in pecans. Pour mixture over baked cake, add remaining half of cake batter. Return to oven and bake 20 - 30 minutes. Add chocolate frosting if desired.
