Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening (maybe 3/4c.)
1 c. sorghum molasses
1/4 c. buttermilk
1 egg
about 5 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. soda in 1 Tbsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. ginger
Preparation

Cream sugar, shortening and molasses.
Add egg and buttermilk. Mix well.
Stir in dry ingredients together with vinegar and soda mixture.
Divide dough into 6 balls.
Press each ball into well-greased 8-inch cake pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until slightly browned.
Remove from pans while warm and set aside to cool.
