Pea & Ham Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    800g ham bone
    150g (medium) onion chopped
    320g (2 cups) yellow split peas
    2 sticks celery chopped
    240g (2 medium carrots) chopped
    2 bay leaves
    2.5 litres (10 cups) water
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients into pan, simmer, covered about 1.5 hours or until peas are soft, stirring occasionally.

    Remove ham bone, remove meat from bone, chop meat finely, discard bone. Return meat to pan, stir until heated through, discard bay leaves.

    Remove lid & simmer to reduce liquied until soup is thick consistency.
