Sour Cream Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    Cake:
    2 C flour
    1 1/4 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    1 2/3 C sugar
    3/4 C sour cream
    1/4 C butter, softened
    2 eggs
    1 tsp vanilla
7 oz bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled
    1 C water
    Frosting:
12 oz semisweet chocolate (chips ok)
    3/4 C cream
    1 Tbsp corn syrup
    2 Tbsp butter, softened
Preparation
Melt the chocolate and set aside to cool.

Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a rectangular pan (13 x 9) or 2 round 9 inch cake pans.

Mix dry ingredients (flour, soda, salt, baking powder) and set aside.

Cream butter, sour cream and sugar.

Add eggs, one at a time.

Stir in melted chocolate and vanilla.

Add dry ingredients in 2 or 3 parts, alternating with the water in 2 parts.

Mix well before pouring into pan(s).

Bake rectangular cake 40 - 45 minutes or round cakes 30 - 35 minutes, until top springs back when touched lightly and toothpick comes out clean.

Cool in pans 10 minutes before removing to cooling rack. Cool completely before frosting.

    Frosting:

Heat the cream over low heat, and add the chocolate (use chips or break the bar into pieces).
Stir occasionally until the chocolate is melted.
Remove from heat, add corn syrup and vanilla and cool to room temperature.
When cool, beat the chocolate mixture with the softened butter until thickened.
