Grandmother'S Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 quarts sliced cucumbers
    6 medium onions (use less)
    2 green peppers or other
    3 cloves garlic or more
    1/3 cup salt
    5 cups sugar
    3 cups cider vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp celery seed
    2 tbl mustard seed
Preparation
    Mix first 5 ingredients and cover with ice for 3 hours or overnight

    Heat the rest of the ingredients just to boiling and then pour over drained vegetables. put into clean jars and lids
