Cherry And Almond Birthday Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 cup granulated sugar
    5 tsp baking powder
    1 cup cornstarch
    2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1 cup butter, softened + 2 tbsp
    4 None eggs
    2/3 cup 2% or whole milk
    3.5 oz candied cherries, chopped
    1 cup almonds, chopped
    1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
    4 tbsp lemon juice
    1 drop red food coloring
    None None candy and candles, to decorate
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0F. Grease a 9 inch cake pan. In a bowl, whisk together sugar, baking powder, cornstarch, 2 1/2 cups flour and a pinch of salt. Add vanilla extract, butter, eggs and milk. Toss cherries with remaining flour and fold into mixture, along with almonds. Transfer to prepared pan and bake for 1 hour 10 mins, until a skewer comes out clean. Remove from pan and allow to cool.
    Mix powdered sugar, lemon juice and food coloring until smooth. Pour over cake and allow to drizzle down sides. Allow to set. Decorate with candies and candles.
