Fennel And Potato Gratin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb potatoes, peeled
    2 bulbs fennel, thinly sliced
    1 tbsp flour
    2 cups heavy cream
    1/4 cup milk
    1 1/2 tbsp butter, chopped
    3 oz coarsely grated Cheddar cheese
    1/2 cup dried breadcrumbs
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Oil a deep baking dish.
    Using a sharp knife or mandoline, slice potatoes into 1/8-inch slices. Pat dry with paper towels then arrange 1/4 of slices in prepared baking dish. Top with 1/3 of the fennel. Repeat layering, finishing with a layer of potatoes.
    Whisk flour with a little of the cream to form a smooth paste. Stir in remaining cream and milk then pour over potatoes and fennel. Dot with butter then cover with foil. Bake for 1 hour, or until vegetables are just tender. Remove foil and top with cheese and breadcrumbs. Bake, uncovered, for 15 mins, or until golden brown.
