Apple Tarte Tatin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 tbsp (3/4 stick) butter, chopped
    1/2 cup sugar
    4 None apples, peeled, cored and halved
    1 None refrigerated pie crust
    None None Whipped cream, to serve (optional)
Preparation
    Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0F.
    Melt butter in an ovenproof 8-inch skillet until bubbling. Stir in sugar.
    Arrange apples in pan, cut side up. Simmer gently 15 mins, basting apples in butter mixture occasionally until syrupy and almost tender.
    Cut pastry into an 8 1/2-inch round. Cover apples with pastry, tucking edges under fruit.
    Bake 30 mins, until pastry is golden. Cool on wire rack. Invert onto a plate. Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
