Spaghetti Napoletana - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 cup olive oil
    1 large onion, finely chopped
    2 cloves garlic, crushed
    1 sprig thyme
    2 lbs ripe plum tomatoes, cored and chopped
    13 oz spaghetti
    1/2 bunch basil, leaves chopped
    None None Shaved Parmesan cheese, to serve
Preparation
    Heat oil in a large saucepan on medium heat. Cook and stir onion and garlic for 5 mins or until golden. Add thyme and tomato; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered, for 40 mins or until sauce is thick.
    Meanwhile, cook pasta in saucepan of boiling salted water according to package directions. Drain.
    Add basil to sauce; cook and stir for 5 mins. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve pasta topped with sauce and sprinkled with cheese.
