Caramelized Onions - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 cup olive oil
2 1/2 tbsp butter
2 1/4 lb onions, peeled, halved, thinly sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
5 sprigs fresh thyme
Preparation

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat oil and butter over medium heat. Cook onions and garlic for 12-15 mins, stirring often, until onions have softened and are golden brown. Reduce heat to low and add sugar, vinegar and thyme. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 mins, until mixture thickens to a jam-like consistency. Remove from heat and season to taste.
