Chocolate Banana Tart - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
7 tbsp butter, softened
1 2/3 cup flour
3/4 cup + 2 tbsp sugar
6 medium eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/3 cup vanilla pudding mix
4 small bananas
2 tsp lemon juice
1/4 lb dark chocolate
Preparation
-
Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. For the pastry, mix together the butter, flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 egg and a pinch of salt and knead until smooth. Wrap in cling wrap and chill for 30 mins. Roll between 2 layers of parchment paper to about 13 inches in diameter then transfer to a greased 10 inch tart pan. Lightly press into the edges, cover with parchment paper and fill with dried beans. Bake for about 15 mins. Remove the beans and paper from the tart shell and cool for 10 mins.
Meanwhile, for the filling, whisk together 5 eggs, sour cream and 1/2 cup sugar. Stir in the vanilla pudding mix until smooth. Puree 1 banana with 1 tsp lemon juice and stir into the egg mixture.
Melt 3/4 of the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of hot water and spread on the base of the tart. Peel 2 bananas then slice and sprinkle with 1 tsp lemon juice. Place these on top of the chocolate, then pour in the filling. Return to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool for at least 1 hour before removing from the pan.
For the chocolate decoration, melt the remaining chocolate then pour onto a baking tray to set. Using a sharp knife, scrape off thin rolls of chocolate and set aside.
Preheat the oven's broiler. Sprinkle the tart with 2 tbsp sugar, broil to caramelize then remove from the oven and cool. Decorate with the chocolate rolls and a few banana slices.
