Howdy Sheriff Cake - cooking recipe

3 packs vanilla cake mix
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
4 tbsp milk
None None Yellow and red food coloring
6 None sprinkle-coated chocolate discs
42 None silver sugar balls
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Grease and line a deep 12-inch-square cake pan.
Make cakes according to pack instructions, pour into pan. Bake for 1 hour 15 mins, or until a skewer comes out clean. Coll in pan for 10 mins; invert onto wire rack to cool completely. Using serrated knife, level cake top.
Beat butter in a bowl with an electric mixer. Gradually beat in half the confectioners' sugar and beat until as white as possible. Add milk and continue beating, then add remaining icing sugar. Beat until a smooth, spreadable consistency.
Turn cake cut-side down and cut into shape of a sheriff's badge. Place on a 14-inch square cake board, cut-side down.
Tint two-thirds of the buttercream with yellow food coloring; spread all over cake.
Tint remaining buttercream with red food coloring and spoon into piping bag fitted with 1/8-inch plain nozzle. Pipe half the red buttercream around edges of badge.
Position chocolate discs on points of badge. Using tweezers, decorate cake with silver balls. Pipe name on to cake with remaining red butter cream.
