Chocolate Coconut Bars - cooking recipe

1 3/4 cups self-rising flour
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup flaked coconut
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
12 tbsp (1 1/2 sticks) butter, melted, plus 4 tbsp (1/4 stick), chopped
1 tbsp light corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
7 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0F. Line an 11 x 7-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Sift flour and cocoa into a large bowl. Stir in coconut, sugar and nuts. Add melted butter, syrup and vanilla. Mix well. Spoon into prepared pan, pressing down firmly.
Bake 20-25 mins, until cooked through and lightly browned.
For the topping, place chocolate and chopped butter in a small saucepan on low heat. Stir 2-3 mins, until melted and smooth.
Pour chocolate over cookie bottom and spread evenly. Cool at room temperature until firm. Cut into squares to serve.
