Sweet Almond And Cherry Tarts - cooking recipe

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup powdered sugar, plus extra, for dusting
2/3 cup butter, chopped

1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 None large egg
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup ground almonds
12 oz cherries, pitted
2 tbsp sugar
Preparation

Process flour, powdered sugar and butter until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Gradually add up to 2 tbsp iced water, if required, processing until mixture just comes together. Knead dough lightly, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 mins.
Preheat the oven to 400\u00b0F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. To make almond filling, beat butter, brown sugar and egg in a small bowl until smooth and creamy. Stir in flour and almonds.
Divide pastry into 8 pieces. On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece of pastry to a 6 inch round and place on baking sheets.
Divide the almond filling among pastry rounds, leaving a 1 1/2 inch border. Top with cherries and fold over pastry border. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake on bottom rack of oven for 20 mins, or until browned.
