Ingredients

6 None oranges, quartered, thinly sliced, seeds removed
4 1/4 cups water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
None None Juice of one lemon
Preparation

Place the oranges and water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Continue to boil rapidly for 25-30 mins or until oranges are very tender.
Reduce the heat to low and add the sugar, stirring until dissolved. Stir in the lemon juice.
Increase the heat and boil, without stirring, for an additional 10-15 mins or until set when tested. To test, spoon a little of the syrup onto a chilled plate, leave for a few mins to cool then push your finger tip through the syrup-it should wrinkle. If the syrup is still runny, boil for a few more mins. Pour into sterilized jars and seal while still hot.
