Lentil Dahl - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/8 cups red lentils, rinsed
    2 None green chilies, deseeded and finely chopped
    1/2 tsp turmeric
    4 None cloves
    1/2 None cinnamon stick
    1 tbsp butter
    1 None onion, thinly sliced
    3 None garlic cloves, crushed
Preparation
    Place the lentils and chilies in a pot and cover with 3 cups boiling water. Simmer for 10-12 mins.
    Crush the spices in a mortar until powdered. Heat the butter in a small saucepan, add the spices and saute for 1-2 mins, until fragrant. Add the onions and garlic and saute for 3-4 mins until just soft. Stir into the lentils and simmer for 4-5 mins. Serve.
