1 (14 1/2 ounce) can chili (or vegetarian chili, use 1/2 cup and save remainder for later)
1/4 small red onion, chopped
2 tablespoons reduced-fat sour cream
grated cheese (optional)

Prepare a 16-oz. bag french fries according to package instructions (I prefer the oven method). Cooking time (below) is approximate.
