Praline Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 cup shortening or 1/2 cup salad oil
    2 cups brown sugar, packed
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 1/2 cups flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 cup chopped nuts
    1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Preparation
    Melt shortning in saucepan over low heat.
    Remove from heat and mix in sugar egg and vanilla.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Spread in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake 25 minutes at 350\u00b0F.
    While warm, cut into squares.
