Vegetable Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    1/2 cup sliced celery
    1/2 cup sliced carrot
    1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    2 cups water
    1 (15 1/2 ounce) can great northern beans, rinsed and drained
    3/4 cup chicken broth
    3/4 cup stewed tomatoes
    1/2 cup cubed peeled potato
    1/2 cup frozen cut green beans
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
    1/3 teaspoon pepper
Preparation
    In a large saucepan, saute onion, celery, carrot and garlic until tender.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat; simmer uncovered for 15 minutes or until heated through and potatoes are tender.
    Discard bay leaf.
