Glühwein (Mulled Wine) - Debrosses Restaurant, Berlin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (750 ml) bottle dry red wine
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/4 cup raisins
    1/4 cup slivered almonds
    1 tablespoon anisette
    1 cinnamon stick, broken in half
    4 whole cloves
    1/4 teaspoon packed finely grated lemon peel
    1/4 teaspoon packed finely grated orange peel
    1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
Preparation
    Combine wine, sugar, raisins, almonds, anisette, cinnamon stick, cloves, lemon peel, and orange peel in heavy large saucepan.
    Scrape in seeds from vanilla bean and then add bean.
    Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes to blend flavors.
    (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cool, cover, and chill. Bring to simmer before serving.).
