Vintage Rumford Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 cup shortening
    1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    1 large egg
    2/3 cup molasses
    2 1/2 cups flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon ginger
    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1/2 cup boiling water
Preparation
    cream together the fat and sugar, add the egg and molasses and beat well --
    Mix and sift in the remaining dry ingredients.adding the boiling water last.
    Pour into shallow well greased pans or muffin cups -- (not sure, but with the tendency of molasses to scorch.I think I will try it in a 13x9 pan first --
    bake at 325* for 20-25 minutes -- Raisins may be added if desired -- before adding boiling water -- .
