Fresh Apple Cake With Nut Topping - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    Cake
    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup shortening
    1 cup buttermilk
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    2 1/4 cups flour
    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/4 teaspoon clove
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    2 cups peeled chopped apples
    Topping
    1/2 cup chopped nuts
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup white sugar
    1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350 deg F.
    Grease and lightly flour a 13 x 9 inch cake pan.
    Mix together sugars, eggs and shortening.
    Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
    Mix together the dry ingredients, adding to the sugar mix alternately with the buttermilk.
    After mixing the above well, fold in apples and pour into prepared cake pan.
    Mix topping and sprinkle over batter.
    Bake for 35- 45 minutes.
