Old Fashioned Raisin Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 cup raisins
    1 cup water
    1/2 cup salad oil or 1/2 cup shortening
    1 slightly beaten egg
    1 cup sugar
    1 3/4 cups flour
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1 teaspoon nutmeg
    1 teaspoon allspice
    1/2 teaspoon clove
    1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Preparation
    Combine raisins and water in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in salad oil, cool to lukewarm. Stir in sugar and egg. Sift together dry ingredients; beat into raisin mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into greased 9 x 13\" pan. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes or until done. When cooled cut into bars. Dust with powdered sugar.
