Low-Fat Date Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 cup unsweetened applesauce
    1/3 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup molasses
    1/8 cup canola oil
    1 eggs or 4 tablespoons egg substitute
    1 teaspoon vanilla or 1 teaspoon almond extract
    1 1/2 cups rolled oats
    1 cup flour (whole wheat or spelt)
    1/2 cup all-bran cereal (crushed)
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    5 dates (dried, pitted, chopped)
Preparation
    Mix all dry ingredients in a small bowl (oats, flour, cereal, cinnamon, powder, soda).
    Mix all wet ingredients in a large bowl (applesauce, sugar, molasses, oil, egg, vanilla).
    Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
    Stir in chopped dates.
    Pour mixture into a 9 x 13 pan (coated with non-stick spray).
    Bake at 350\u00b0F for 20 minutes.
