Hot Sauerkraut Salad From Fredericksberg - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pint sauerkraut
1 medium sized apple, cut into small cubes
1 potato, peeled, & cut into small cubes
1 onion, cut into small cubes
2 cups hot water
2 tablespoons bacon drippings or 3 slices bacon, cut into small pieces
8 hot dogs (optional)
Preparation

Place the cubed apple, potato, and onion in a saucepan along with the hot water. Boil until vegetables are soft, about 10 minutes.
Add the sauerkraut or weinkraut and the bacon drippings or the bacon. Cover and simmer for about 2 hours. About 10 minutes before dish is done, add the hot dogs and replace cover, if wished.
