Chunky Chai Applesauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 cup apple cider
    2 lbs granny smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
    1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
    1 dash ground cloves
    1 dash fresh ground black pepper
Preparation
    Combine cider and apples in a large saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
    Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring occasionally.
    Stir in sugar and remaining ingredients; simmer 12 minutes, stirring occasionally until mixture is thick. Cover and chill.
