Holly'S Spiced Applesauce Bars With Cream Cheese Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients

Bars
1 cup shortening
2 1/4 cups sugar
3 eggs, beaten well
3 3/4 cups applesauce (I use unsweetened)
4 1/2 cups flour
3 teaspoons cinnamon
3 teaspoons allspice
1 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 1/4 teaspoons cloves
2 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
Frosting
3/4 cup butter, softened
12 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 lbs powdered sugar
3 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add rest of ingredients and mix well.
Pour batter into a greased half sheet pan and bake at 375* for 20-30 min or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Allow to cool completely then frost.
***My mom always cut these into rectangle shaped bars about 1 1/2\" by 3\".***.
