Jewish Apple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 large tart apples
    7 tablespoons sugar
    10 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
    4 large eggs
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1/4 cup orange juice
    3 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    3 cups flour
    1 cup cooking oil
    1/4 cup pecans (optional)
Preparation
    Peel and core apples and slice thinly.
    Combine apple slices with 7 tbls sugar and cinnamon.
    Mix well and set aside.
    Mix all other ingredients well, (add nuts if using).
    Pour half the batter into a well greased tube pan, cover with half the apples then add the rest of the batter and finally cover with the remaining apple slices.
    Bake in the oven at 350 for 1 hour 45 minutes.
    The cake is ready when a toothpick comes out clean.
    Cool in pan for 25 minutes.
