Brown Gravy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons bacon grease
    3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon black pepper
    1 1/2 cups cold water
Preparation
    In a heavy skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter or grease.
    Stir in flour, salt, and pepper, blending well.
    Continue to stir until mixture is dark brown.
    Add water and reduce heat to a simmer for 5 minutes.
    Serve warm.
