Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb bacon, diced (6 slices)
    1 yellow onion, peeled and sliced
    3 lbs red cabbage
    3 apples, cored and thinly sliced
    1 cup chicken stock
    4 tablespoons red wine
    4 tablespoons white vinegar
    4 tablespoons brown sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/4 black pepper
Preparation
    In a 8 quart stove top covered casserole saute the bacon until clear.
    Add the onions and sliced cabbage to the pot, along with the apples.
    Saute, uncovered, until the cabbage begins to collapse a bit.
    Add the remaining ingredients and cover.
    Cook over medium heat, until tender, about 1 hour.
