Split Pea Soup With Ham - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 cups chopped onions
    1 cup chopped carrot
    1/2 cup chopped celery
    1 1/2 cups ham, cubed
    1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    6 cups water
    1 (14 ounce) can chicken broth
    1 lb dried split peas, washed and sorted
    1 -2 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
    1 teaspoon dried marjoram
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Saute vegetables and ham in oil until tender, 8-10 minutes. Add water, chicken broth, split peas, bouillon and marjoram; heat to boiling.
    Reduce heat and simmer, covered, until peas are tender, 60-90 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
