Oma'S Deep Dish German Apple Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    Crust
    1/4 lb butter
    1/2 lb flour
    3/4 cup sugar
    1 egg
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    Filling
    6 large red apples
    4 tablespoons sugar
    3 teaspoons cinnamon
    Icing
    1/4 cup powdered sugar
    2 tablespoons lemon juice
Preparation
    Peel apples and dice.
    Mix crust ingredients together and roll out.Press firmly into the bottom of a 10 inch spring form pan. Save about 1/3 of dough for the top of the pie.
    Mix filling ingredients and pour into crust pressed into the bottom of the pan.
    Cover with rolled out leftover dough; pinch edges.
    Brush top crust with icing.
    Cut several slits in top to vent.
    Use a pie guard around edges of pie or place 1\" aluminum foil around edges of pie.
    Bake at 350 for one hour; Watch pie--don't let it get too browned.
    Serve with a slice of American cheese (melted) on top.
