Christmas Scent - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 cinnamon sticks (4 inches each)
    1/4 cup whole cloves
    1/2 small lemon, sliced with rind left on
    1/2 small orange, sliced with rind left on
    1 quart water
    2 vanilla pod, broken open
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients in a small saucepan.
    Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
    Check often and add water as needed.
    Can be refrigerated and re-used as needed.
