Colonial Wassail - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    750 ml dry red wine
    2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup water
    1/4 cup lemon juice
    4 cinnamon sticks
    1/4 cup brandy
    lemon slice
Preparation
    In a large saucepan, mix together red wine, cranberry juice, sugar, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon sticks.
    Heat just until mixture bubbles around the edges; reduce heat.
    Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
    Remove cinnamon sticks.
    Stir in brandy.
    Ladle mixture into cups or mugs; garnish with a lemon slice.
