Oly Bolen - Dutch New Years Donuts (Oliebollen) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

8 cups flour
6 tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons fast rising yeast
3 cups warm water (105 degrees F)
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs
4 cups raisins
2 cups icing sugar
vegetable oil (enough to deepfry)
Preparation

Take 2 cups of flour and thoroughly mix in sugar, yeast, and salt.
Mix separately water, vanilla and eggs. Pour into flour mixture a bit at a time.
Stir in raisins.
Grease a big bowl, put dough in bowl and cover with a damp tea towel and plastic bag. Let rise for 1 1/2 hours.
Heat oil or deep fryer to 370 degrees F. Drop heaping tablespoons into 2 1/2 - 3 inches o oil. Cook until they have a light brown color to them.
Remove from oil and dip or sprinkle in icing sugar, and lay on paper-towel covered cookie sheets. Serve immediately!
