Green Beans And Ham - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (2 pound) ham steak, cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 1/2 pounds red new potatoes, halved
    1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and halved
    1 small onion, coarsely chopped
    1/2 cup butter
    water to cover
    salt and ground black pepper to taste
Preparation
    Place ham steak, potatoes, green beans, onion, and butter in a large pot with just enough water to cover. Season with salt and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.
