Deconstructed Apple Pie Sundae - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored, and chopped
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    3 tablespoons butter
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup pecans
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    4 scoops vanilla ice cream
    1/4 cup toffee baking bits (optional)
Preparation
    Combine apples, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat; cook, stirring occasionally, until apples begin to soften, about 10 minutes. Add pecans and cook 2 minutes more. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
    Scoop ice cream into 4 bowls and top with apple topping. Sprinkle toffee bits over apple topping.
