Mama'S Pea Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cups frozen peas, thawed
    1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
    2 large Red Delicious apples, cored and diced
    1 tablespoon white sugar (optional)
    1/2 cup mayonnaise, or more to taste
Preparation
    Combine peas, cheese, apples, sugar, and mayonnaise in a bowl. Fold together gently to mix and dissolve sugar. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
