Molasses Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup molasses
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground ginger
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup hot, brewed coffee
Preparation

Sift together salt, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, flour, and baking soda.
Cream shortening and sugar gradually, then add molasses and eggs. Mix in sifted ingredients. Stir in hot coffee; batter will be thin.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes. Cool.
