Nuoc Cham (Vietnamese Sauce) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 tablespoons lime juice
    2 tablespoons fish sauce, or more to taste
    2 tablespoons white sugar, or more to taste
    1 tablespoon water
    1 red chile pepper, thinly sliced, or more to taste (optional)
    1 clove garlic, thinly sliced (optional)
Preparation
    Mix lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, water, red chile pepper, and garlic together in a bowl.
