Connecticut Beef Supper - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. oil
    2 lb. beef stew meat
    2 large onions, sliced
    1 c. water
    2 or 3 large potatoes, pared and sliced thin
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1 c. sour cream
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1 1/2 c. crushed Wheaties
Preparation
    Brown meat and onions in oil. Add water.
    Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 45 minutes.
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0. Pour meat mixture into ungreased baking dish, 9 x 13-inches. Arrange potatoes on meat.
    Mix together soup, sour cream, milk, salt and pepper. Pour over potatoes.
    Sprinkle with cheese and cereal.
    Bake, uncovered, 1 1/2 hours.
