Chocolate Cake Of Mrs. Cushman Brown - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter
    1/2 c. chocolate, dissolved in 1/4 c. hot water
    2 eggs
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream butter; add sugar gradually and cream together well. Add chocolate and vanilla; blend.
    Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
    Add flour which has been sifted with soda and cream of tartar, alternately with milk, beating after each addition until smooth.
    Bake in an 8 x 8-inch pan (greased and floured) in a 350\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes.
