Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. oil
    2 large onions, chopped
    1 carrot, chopped
    3 c. chicken stock
    1 c. lentils
    salt to taste
    1 lb. canned tomatoes
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    1/2 tsp. marjoram
    1/4 c. parsley
Preparation
    Saute onions and carrot in oil for 3 to 4 minutes.
    Add thyme and marjoram and saute 1 minute more.
    Add remaining ingredients; simmer until tender (several hours).
    Good topped with grated white cheese or sour cream.
