Hot Apple Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. sugar
    4 c. water
    2 (2 1/2-inch) cinnamon sticks
    10 whole cloves
    4 c. orange juice
    2 c. lemon juice
    2 qt. cider
Preparation
    Combine sugar, water and spices.
    Boil 5 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
    Let stand, covered, 1 hour.
    Strain.
    Just before serving, combine syrup, fruit juices and cider.
    Bring to boil quickly. Remove from heat; serve at once.
    Makes 4 1/2 quarts.
