Date Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. boiling water
1 c. dates, chopped
1 c. margarine
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. soda
2 c. pecans
1 jar cherries, drained
1 carton candid fruit, optional
raisins, optional

Preparation

Mix boiling water, dates and soda.
Add sugar, eggs, flour, cinnamon, cherries, candid fruit, nuts and raisins.
Pour into greased and floured tube pan.
Bake at 300\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours or until done.
Cool 30 minutes.
