German Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large head cabbage, finely shredded
    1 large onion, sliced thin
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. mustard
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. vinegar
    1 c. salad oil
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Mix
    cabbage, onion and 1/2 cup sugar; set aside.
    In a saucepan
    combine
    1 tablespoon sugar, mustard, salt and vinegar. Boil
    until
    sugar and salt dissolve; then add salad oil and bring
    to a boil.
    Add celery seed.
    Pour boiling mixture over cabbage
    and
    mix well.
    Put in covered container (large jars
    do well).
    Refrigerate
    for
    12 to 14 hours.
    Turn jars over
    once or twice.
    Will keep several days in refrigerator. Makes approximately 1/2 gallon.
