Buttermilk Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    3 eggs, beaten
    1/2 tsp. lemon flavoring
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    4 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Combine sugar and shortening; add beaten eggs; lemon flavoring and buttermilk.
    Add remaining dry ingredients with one cup flour to first mixture.
    Add additional flour to make a dough; just stiff enough to toss on floured board; roll out and cut.
    Fry in deep fat.
