Ingredients

1 pt. half and half
1/4 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
8 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
5 c. flour
3/4 c. raisins
1/4 tsp. sugar
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water (105~ to 115~)
Preparation

Add 1/4 teaspoon of sugar and dry yeast to the 1/4 cup of warm water.
Allow yeast to proof.
Scald half and half, remove from heat and add butter.
Allow this to cool as the butter melts.
Mix next four ingredients in a mixing bowl until well blended.
Add 3 cups of flour, one at a time, into blended mixture, mixing well. Add half and half and butter, yeast and raisins.
Mix well.
Let raise until double in size (1 1/2 to 2 hours).
