Homemade Hominy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 gal. shelled corn
    1 Tbsp. lye (powder)
    1 gal. water
Preparation
    Put water and lye in enamel kettle.
    Stir, then add corn.
    Cook until water is brown and thick.
    Remove from heat.
    Pour in a drainpan in sink.
    Run water over it for several minutes, then put in pan and wash a lot.
    Put corn in a big plastic container; cover with water.
    Let set all night.
    Wash well.
    Start cooking and cook until done.
